The Knoxville Ice Bears announced that Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Rodgers have parted ways, President and General Manager Mike Murray stated this afternoon. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately. Murray will be assuming all hockey operations duties until the new coach is hired.
"Rodgers has been a valued member of the Ice Bears in varying capacities for the past four seasons. His contributions have been appreciated during his tenure. We want to thank him for his service to the Ice Bears organization over the years. " commented Murray.
Rodgers was hired by the Ice Bears in October, 2007 as Assistant Coach and then named Head Coach on June 22, 2009 after the departure of Scott Hillman. As Head Coach, he was responsible for all aspects of hockey operations, including the coaching, scouting, player procurement and development of the three time President's Cup Champions.
