Youth Players of the Game

Last Friday, the Ice Bears recognized a brother and sister pair of amateur players who are tops in their youth hockey league ...

They welcomed Andy and Kate Whitcomb from west Knox county ... Andy's in 4th grade, and Kate's a first grader - both attend blue grass elementary school.

Mom Patti Whitcomb says she's "just really proud of them and just really excited that they got to do it together, cause they really wanted to get to do it together." Andy's skated for 2 years and is a member of the squirt black team at the Icearium and Kate's skated for 6 months, and plays in the Icearium's cross ice program.

Kate thought skating with her brother in front of all those Ice Bear fans was a little scary, but she liked it. Andy enjoyed sharing the night with his sister too, but he said all that was running through his head was that he really didn't want to get off the ice. Kate said "it was fun to get out there and see those fans."

Congratulations Andy and Kate!
